# Creating Zones Map using Topography

1. Select the field in the tree, click **Create Zones Map** button, select Single-layer type, and then **Next**.
2. Select the **Topography** data type to proceed.

3. In the next step select the most appropriate Digital Elevation option:

* Elevation – absolute numbers
* Slope – the measure of steepness or the degree of inclination of a feature relative to the horizontal plane
* Aspect – the compass direction that a slope faces
* Hillshade – a shaded relief effect for terrain visualization
* Elevation and hillshades
* Slope and Aspect
* Relief Position – defined as the difference between a central pixel and the mean of its surrounding cells.
* Ruggedness – defined as the mean difference between a central pixel and its surrounding cells.
* Roughness – the degree of irregularity of the surface. It’s calculated by the largest inter-cell difference between a central pixel and its surrounding cell.

After you have selected the required value, click **Next**.

4. In the next step, you can edit the title, change the number of zones, [select a Data Classification Type](https://docs.geopard.tech/geopard-tutorials/product-tour-web-app/zones-maps-and-analytics/usage-of-data-classification), and define Minimum Polygon Area in square meters. Click **Run Analysis** to proceed.

The analysis may run for up to 60 seconds, depending on the parameters you have specified.

5. Once it is finished, click **Save & Finish**.

You can either create another zones map, assign the rates or go to the Zones map you have just created. If you navigate to the zone map you will see a similar view.
