Zones Maps
To create a Zones map for your field, open it from the fields list and then click Create Zones Map button:
You will proceed to the Zones Creator tool, where you need to select the type of zones map you want to create. For now, let’s proceed with a Single-layer type.
- 1.Select the field in the list, click Create Zones Map button, select Single-layer type, and then Next.
- 2.Select Satellite Monitoring data type to proceed.
- 3.In the next step, you can select a satellite image. You can apply filtering by month(s)/year(s), by the provider, or by NDVI and switch different image views (NIR, EVI2, etc). Under the ‘Here is a brief description of the indices types’ link you can find useful information about indices. If you need to change the Index click on the arrow nearby the EVI2 index name. Then click Next.

- 4.In the next step, you can edit the title, change the number of zones, select the required Data Classification Type, and define Minimum Polygon Area in square meters. Click Run Analysis to proceed.
The analysis may run for up to 60 seconds, depending on the parameters you have specified.
- 5.Once it is finished, click Save & Finish.
After it is saved, you will see the following message:
You can either create another zones map, assign the rates or go to the Zones map you have just created. If you navigate to the zone map you will see a similar view.
If you want to create a Zones Map using some data set, make sure you upload the data first to your field.
- 1.Select the field in the list, click the Create Zones Map button, select Single-layer type, and then Next.
- 2.Select Soil Data (or Yield/As Applied Data) type to continue. Let’s proceed with the Soil Data option.
- 3.In the next step select the specific soil data you want to proceed with and click Next.
- 1.Select the field in the tree, click Create Zones Map button, select Single-layer type, and then Next.
- 2.Select the Topography data type to proceed.
- 3.In the next step select the most appropriate Digital Elevation option:
- Elevation – absolute numbers
- Slope – the measure of steepness or the degree of inclination of a feature relative to the horizontal plane
- Aspect – the compass direction that a slope faces
- Hillshade – a shaded relief effect for terrain visualization
- Elevation and hillshades
- Slope and Aspect
- Relief Position – defined as the difference between a central pixel and the mean of its surrounding cells.
- Ruggedness – defined as the mean difference between a central pixel and its surrounding cells.
- Roughness – the degree of irregularity of the surface. It’s calculated by the largest inter-cell difference between a central pixel and its surrounding cell.
After you have selected the required value, click Next.
- 4.In the next step, you can edit the title, change the number of zones, select the required Data Classification Type, and define Minimum Polygon Area in square meters. Click Run Analysis to proceed.
The analysis may run for up to 60 seconds, depending on the parameters you have specified.

Using a Zones map template can be useful when you want to create a new map using pre-selected data and settings of existing Zones map by adding new, fresh data. For example, you have a 3-year satellite zones map and you want to add a new image (from the current year) for the analysis and have pre-selected the same number of zones and vegetation index that were used for your existing template Zones map.
The process is the same as when creating a new Zones map, but now you use an already existing Zones map as the starting point.
- 1.Select the field in the tree, click the Create Zones Map button, select Clone an existing Zones Map, and then Next.
- 2.In the next step, select the zones map you want to use as the template. Click Next.
- 3.The same criteria are applied with the same index. You see pre-selected images used in template analysis. Here you can select an image (images) you want to add or replace.
After it is saved you will see the following message:
You can either create another zones map, assign the rates or go to the Zones map you have just created.
There are several ways to create a variable rate application (VRA) in the application:
- 1.Open the required field, go to the Zones Map section, then select a map, open the action menu, and click the ‘Assign rates’ item:
2. Or you can switch to the Zones Maps table and click the Assign Rates button next to the required map:
On clicking the Assign Rates button, you will see the following screen:
Here you can specify the following details for VRA:
- Purpose (General, Spraying, Seeding, Fertilizing, Irrigation)
- The product you want to apply (or several products)
- Rates for each zone
- Price per Unit
Once you have specified all the details, click Save to save the Zones map with the applied rates.
By using merge and split zones features you can merge and split polygon(s) or management zones (or any other data layer), and assign a polygon or a complete zone to another class. It helps to tune zones maps for precision operations like seeding, fertilizing, or spraying.
- 1.Open the required field, go to the Zones Map section, then select a map, open the action menu, and click the ‘Go to zones map page’ item:
