# Farm and field setup ### **Create a new farm** The first step to using the GeoPard application is to create your first farm. Follow the steps below to do so: 1. Click the button to create a new farm.

2. In the next step enter the name of the first farm and click **Create** button:

You will see a confirmation toast message that the farm was saved:

### **Draw a new field** Now, after you have created your first farm, you can proceed to create (draw) your fields. You can add a field to your farm in two ways: uploading a .shp file or manually drawing a field. We will focus on drawing fields manually for now. 1. Click the button to create a field.

2. In the next step, enter a name for the field and select the farm you created earlier.

3. Next, click **Draw** on the right.

4. You can easily navigate to the required location using the ‘Search’ field. The search allows you to search both by name and coordinates. It is also possible to apply standard map navigation – using the cursor and “+”, and “-” buttons. 5. After you navigate to the required area, click anywhere on the selected area (both right-click and left-click work) to proceed to manual drawing. You start with one point (dot) and keep adding points to draw boundaries for your field. 6. To complete the drawing, just connect the last point with the first one or double-click the left mouse button.

7. The application will automatically calculate the size of the selected area. Click the button to save the shape you have drawn for your field.

You will see an informational toast message saying that the first historical satellite images will be available in a couple of minutes, and the complete dataset in about 1 hour or less.

You can either go straight to the created field by clicking the corresponding button or continue to draw new fields. ### **Upload a field boundary** In case you have a shape file of your field(s), you can upload them by using the Upload tab. Keep in mind that there are some restrictions: * Only WGS84 (EPSG:4326) shape files are supported * 5MB is the maximum file size * 1236ac/500ha is the maximum field area * Each shape file is treated as a single field * Labels will be created from the .dbf file

1. Select Farm to upload to 2. Click the **Browse** button and select a file from your computer. 3. Click the **Upload** button. 4. Then the application will verify that the file meets the requirements and save the field.

\ Wait for the confirmation dialog to see that the boundary was uploaded successfully:

### **Edit a boundary** You can edit the boundaries of your field(s) using the same ‘drawing’ tool, in cases when you want to edit some inaccuracies of the drawn or uploaded field. 1. To start editing, first, select the field you want to edit from the fields list. Then open the ‘Field Operations’ menu and select the ‘Edit Field Boundary’ item.

2. Double-click the boundaries, to activate the editing tool. The moving points will be activated and you can change the boundary by moving it or adding additional points for drawing a more detailed boundary of the field.

3. To draw an additional polygon click the **Draw** button. 4. To exclude some area (a pond, slope, etc) from the field, click the **Make hole** button. Then select the area you want to exclude from the field in the same way as you were drawing a field. The highlighted area is excluded from the field when you click anywhere outside the highlighted area. You can also fine-tune the excluded area as in editing boundaries by activating the points and moving/deleting them. 5. To delete the selected point, select it and click the **Delete** button. 6. It is possible to use any data layer as a background base map.

7\. To save the changes, click the **Save\&Finish** button. You will see a confirmation message that the changes were saved.

**Note:** After you have edited the boundaries of your field, we advise you to run the Zones Creator tool to generate a new analysis because old zone maps were built based on old boundaries and won’t be regenerated. You can use the ‘Clone an existing Zones Map’ option to get new results quickly. ### **Edit a field name** 1. To rename any field name, first, select it from the fields list. Then open the ‘Field Operations’ menu and select the ‘Rename’ item.

2. Enter a new name and click **Rename** button to save it.

### **Add a label** If you plan to manage many fields, it is recommended to organize them by applying labels to the fields you create. 1. Click ‘Add label’ to open the window for managing labels:

2. Click ‘Create New Label’ to create the first label. Here is an example of how you can use labels:
